Updates, on this blog?

Screw Christmas, theres a better cause to celebrate

I've finally updated on time!

Anyone else feel like Christmas was rather lame this year?
Maybe im just getting old, maybe ive become so lazy that the thought of getting excited for some lights and snow fills me with dread.
Or maybe the magic of Christmas is dead for me now.
I remember it like yesterday, getting upat 6 in the morning, waking up the house and most of the street, rushing to open my presents.
Last year was crazy!
But now, I had to be woken up at 10 by my little brother, who was well excited. Its not just the getting up, I dont like the food, the lights, the atmosphere. Call me a Scrooge if you will, but im not a big fan of christmas.

Oh, and Christmas songs, who ever came up with the idea should be shot
Better yet, made to listen to all of them

So about that update.... (part 1)

Looks like i am way more lazy than i realised!

Thats a lie, i knew i was this lazy

So this is part one of what will hopefully be a rather large update, and will contain my first actual ramble, none of this just tell you what ive been doing crap.

Another lie, i shall first tell you what ive been up to!

First semester over, and all my work is done, was a stressful last 2 weeks (guess it serves me right to leave it that long). Im seriously proud of what ive done, this was definatly the right course for me.

Musically ive had my ups and downs, months without a drumkit has made me lose confidence and skill (the few times i have been able to play on a real kit i was sloppy and not relaxed) This, however, got much better when i joined my first band, 'This Heartless Galleon'. A hardcore punk band was just what i needed to gain confidence. The guys are great, looking forward to my first gig with them.
But my crappy posters advertising my skils had attracted another band, Cartesian. Already gigging, they provide a great way to earn money, learn about the gigging process and have a load of fun doing so. They are such a different style to what im used to, yay for diversity!
I thought that was to be my last band, but in the last week of term, i was contacted again, this time to lay down some drum tracks for a solo artist. in the short time we played together, i leran that we had the same ideas musically, and i thought we gelled really well. I hope ill do some gigs with her, not just the recordings.

Right, tomorrow comes part 2, and you all know what that means....

part 2 wont be here till Febuary

That time already?

Thought it hadent been long since my last update, how wrong i was!
Things have been slowly plodding along, the odd bit of work, loads of research and some rugby training.
I guess the only remotly unsual thing ive done was film the movements for motion capture today, but that in itself was a bit embarresing to say the least; spiderman moves are not the coolest thing to do in public i tell you.

Sore...

Just came home to a room full of post-it notes, i could have sworn i locked the door....
Anywho, now that i have removed a trees worth of paper from my walls, i can tell you the events that made this glorious weekend!
i had a rugby match saturday, which we lost 24-5 (i think), where i played scrum half, and was woefully underprepared. Had a mixed game, a few mistakes, and one rather neat little run.
All in all it was fun, and i am now left with the morning-after ache that i havent felt in 3 years.
I then had to rush to birmingham for a 25th wedding anniversary (again, i locked that door, im sure of it!) which was fun, who can turn down free food and alcohol!
A long sleep and trainride later, and here i am, wondering what surprises await me in this room

Revenge will be sweeeeeet

Once more with feeling!

I have never had so many illnesses in such a short space of time, its rather annoying
Just a short update today, need to go back to sleep.
I have been trundling on with work, finally nailing my level design as well as getting the hang of modelling. I have to make a fool of myself in motion capture tomorrow, which should be a laugh

For everyone else

The weekend...

...was rather awesome.
I went to Malvern, for no particular reason, and who did i meet but Jason, Izzy and Fender! T'was madness i tells you! Much merriment was had, and i shall dictate it to you in list form!
We went to and were promptly kicked out of 2 pubs (not my fault of course)
We went back to izzys house, where i slept for days
Much coffee was drank
We watched Tropic Thunder (a film) and laughed as some old people left the cinema disgusted
Watched family guy
Laughed at J
All in all, a spectacular weekend, pity i have to get back to work (YES, i have work!)

That time already?

Not much to say really, things have been plodding along as usual, I play games, i make them, i play more games, i play rugby, i play more games, i get told to play games by lecturers, and i play them.
Its a vicous cycle

Running out of snappy titles...

An update, on this blog! Well i never!
Its currently 1.14 in the morning and i am not tired in the slightest, with a lecture in 7 and a bit hours, lovely.
On the rugby side of things, the 1st team lost their first match due to an absolutely shocking referee and it being the first match of a higher league. I have my first match on saturday, starting as full back due to the many injuries that were sustained on wednesday (fractured kneecap, torn hamstring and massive gash on someones hand to name a few)
I have also become a concept artist for a mod (thats a game 'mod'ification to those who dont know) tha the university is helping running, more on that when we get started.
Heh, after typing this im tired, sorted!

Viewer discresion is advised....

I havent updated in a while, silly me!
Crazy things have happened whilst i have been neglecting this blog, and i apologise to my one reader for my lack of updates (sorry 'cybergrn')
erm, work has been wicked, editing halflife 2 (like you know what that is... wikipedia it!). using 3dsmax (again, wikipedia is your friend) dressing up in a motion capture suit and pretending to be spiderman, 'cus im an actor now!
On the social side of things, i am slowly intergrating into the rugby team, which has had a bit of an upset recently, involving last rugby social (which i missed due to a severe illness which could have been lethal if it werent for my superior immune system), some naked freshers and a formal complaint to the police.
i may jest abt this stuff, but the club is in danger of being closed, so lets all (come on grandma) hope that its stays alive...

Heh, you may want to skip this bit if you think that im an innocent young lad with no concept of girlfriends

Also socially based is the distinct lack of any girls in stafford. Seriously, theres a 14:1 ratio of guys to girls here. couple in the fact that 1/8 will be gay (cheers ali for that statistic) and that abt half have boyfriend already, it looks like its gonna be a loveless three years
O joy
Theres two gay guys on my floor, may have to make it three :P
Joking, i think

Wikipedia is awesome

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Just had a wicked night at the union, and who would be joining me, non other than the legendary izzy!
Twas a great time, with many of my nerdy friends pawning over her, us counting the girls in stafford (we got to seven!), and generally wikipediaing (that is now a word) everything and anything we could think of.
Everyone take vitamin D, otherwise you will end up with rickets!
Its SCIENCE!

Lack of updates

I have been rather busy see :P
I have done quite a bit in the last few days, including;
Rugby training
Going out
Starting my course
Going out
Cooking a proper meal :O
Having sunday lunch made for me
Going out
Havent been out enough tho.
My course so far has been wicked, altho all weve had so far are glorified introducing sessions. I have started using 3Ds max (the program used to make 3D models, amongst other things) and its glorious!
Whats worrying tho is how much work i have to do, and how little time i have to do it in, 12 weeks doenst sound like alot.
On the food side of things, im doing.... better. there have been days wehere ive just had toast, and days (today in fact) where i cooked pasta, sauce and chicken! Also, Red bull has become a staple part of my morning routine!

Details Details Details

For those who want to know (i assume you do if you are reading this) i am going to descibe more of my life here in Yarlet (my halls).
There are 17 lads sharing a massive kitchen, and any preconceptions abt food stealing and selfish acts are totally unfounded. All our plates/bowls/cutlery etc are communal, grab whats dry so to speak. Everyone clears up after themselves, people offer food around, wether they are generous by nature or just overestimated how many noodles yoy get is an entirely different matter.
To put it simple, everyone is a mate, and nothing bad has happened
Yet
I have also been locked out my room for the first time, got back from the student union at 4 am, went in my room for some unmemorable reason, and before you know it, i was in the kitchen minus my keys.
Luckily i managed to sleep in someone elses room, dont think i would have like to sleep in the corridor just yet.
On wednesday evening i had the first of many rugby 'socials', where basically everyone picks on the freshers. The guys are safe tho, the few freashers who did keel over were well looked after.
Needless to say, the last few nights have been fun, but heavy on the liver and wallet.

I must go, need to nap and go to training.
Im suddenly so busy!

Finally...

Please excuse the spelling/grammar of this post, i have been out tonight :P
i have been out with the whole floor of my halls, and at last, friend have been made!
Sorted!
Duno if i want to move out now, i have a choice, en suite shower and toilet, or building on the friendship that have been made tonight.
Im leaning towards the latter
I mean, i have a drummer friend, and rpg friend, a guy who shares the same music tastes as me (and who lived in sutton coldfield, bonus!) and they all play comutergames, my ideal clique of friends.
I shall finally be looking forward to tomorrow

Who organised the school day?

Noone is up at 9 o'clock, hell, im barely up at 12.
Second day has been easier, guess its all down to time. Can't wait to move into a new room aswell, 17 people sharing a kitchen and 4 showers is annoying. Will be easier to make friends if theres only 3 or 4 ppl sharing facilities, more of me to go around then :P
I have been surprisingly pro-active and signed up for no less than 4 clubs/societies, which no doubt i will have little time for and promptly quit, but its the thought that counts right? Signed up for rugby, ultimate frisbee, kendo and the inevitable rpg club.
All of which will cost me money.
This student loan better come soon.

I hate bars...

...standing there for an hour is not the way i would like to spend an evening.
The first night is over, and whoever said making friends is easy because everyones in the same situation is a massive liar or incredibly outgoing.
I imagine making friends is gonna be a slow process for me, which sucks cus until then im on my own. All is not lost however, i have been hanging round a group of... aqaintances, more awkward silences than conversation, but its a start.
Had to be up at 9.30 for the first time in months, which has been a real shock, don't know if my body thinks its a real time yet. First impressions of the course seems cool, except i have my timetable...
Monday. 9 o'clock. Motion capture (the most active part of the course).
Bugger.

Looks like we made it...

Ah self-sufficiency, its hard work i tell you.
After what seemed like hours running back and forth trying to find the required information to set up the internet, i finally feel like ive settled in. Of course i dont know anyone (and my usual tactic of retreating to a pc wont help that) but im hoping that getting drunk at the student union will mean i find one friend, or at least make a name for myself.
My room is...disappointing, yes its amazingly large, to the point where my feeble belongings make it look bare, but its also rather... scutty and old, and theres no ensuite.
I was promised an ensuite.
Nevertheless, im sure with some clothes strewn on the floor and the comforting glow of my monitor, it will start to feel like home.
Now for the next big step, cooking
This will be fun....

End of an Era

Here i am, the night before i go to university, leaving behind the last 18 years of my life. This blog has two purposes, for the people i leave behind to learn what i am doing, and to serve as a vent for my fustrations...
Who doesnt like listening to someone elses opinion eh?
At 1 o'clock tomorrow i will be resposible for my own existence, so if you know me, youll know how screwed i am :P
its not like i havent packed yet or anything...
